“When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our fathers did for us.” ~John Ruskin (quote that is on the foundation by the door of the castle)
If you ever visit St. Augustine, you might sneak a peek of the castle as you are driving north on A1A from Vilano Beach. Until next time, have a great week!

I’ve never even heard of this, and I’ve been to St. Augustine several times!

Pam, the castle was built back in the mid-80s in Vilano, right off A1A … it’s not a “tourist” attraction per se … but the owner does do public tours, by appointment only. It’s really cool to see up close and inside:)
